The maintenance hatch opens up so you can see the baling mechanism working, which my kid finds fascinating. It's sturdy enough to handle some rough play without falling apart.
The twine boxes actually open, which my kid figured out in about ten seconds, and the maintenance hatch lets him poke around at the baling mechanism without me worrying he'll snap something. The extendable base keeps it planted on the carpet instead of tipping over mid-play.
The extendable base keeps it from tipping over during play, which is good because my kid is not gentle with it. Opening the twine boxes is a nice touch, though the straw rake feels a bit flimsier than I'd expect for the price.
