My 4-year-old hasn't put this down since it arrived—angling the boom sideways to dig around the couch cushions is his new favorite game. The metal tracks and fully functional arm feel solid enough to survive some serious play, and the bucket actually stays on when he scoops up his toy blocks.
The sideways-angled boom really surprised me — my kid digs around corners just like a real excavator. The dozer blade actually adjusts, which keeps it from tipping over on carpet.
The removable bucket and adjustable dozer blade have survived weeks of my kid digging in actual dirt and gravel, which says a lot. The sideways-angled boom is the detail that keeps him busy longest, since it mimics how a real excavator works. Solid little machine for the price.
